Pililla Wind Farm, Rizal: Visitor Guide and Nearby Stops

Wind turbines on a ridge above rice fields in Barangay Halayhayin, Pililla, Rizal

Pililla Wind Farm is the easiest place in Rizal to see a row of tall white turbines on a ridge with a lake behind them. It makes a good half-day or an add-on to a longer Rizal trip, and it needs no hiking. This guide explains where it is, when to go, how to get there and what to see on the same day.

Opening hours and rules at the site can change, so confirm them locally before you set off.

Where Is Pililla Wind Farm?

The wind farm is in Barangay Halayhayin, Pililla, Rizal, on the hills above Laguna de Bay. Its first phase has 27 turbines arranged in three clusters. Construction began in June 2013, and the farm has been operating since about 2016. It was developed by Alternergy. These are working turbines that feed the grid, so you are visiting an active power site and not a theme park.

What You Will See

  • Rows of turbines on the ridge, which look best against a blue sky or a clear evening.
  • Views over Laguna de Bay, with the lake spread out below the hills.
  • Open, grassy slopes around the turbines that make good photo spots.

When to Go

  • Time of day. Early morning and late afternoon are the most comfortable, and the light is softer for photos. Midday is hot and bright.
  • Season. The dry season, roughly November to May, gives the clearest views. Cloud and rain can hide the lake in the wet months.
  • Day of the week. Weekdays are quieter. Weekends and holidays are busy, especially on sunny days.

How to Get There

By private vehicle is the practical choice, as the site is on a hill road and public transport to the top is limited. Visitors from earlier years describe taking a tricycle from the town market, but fares from old blog posts are out of date, so agree a price and a return trip before you go.

By van with a driver. If you are coming with family, friends or colleagues, a van lets you start from your own doorstep and combine stops. Ask about our van with a driver.

Hours and Entry

Visitors report that the site is open during the day, around 8 AM to 6 PM, and that entry has been free. Both details come from visitor accounts, not an official notice, so check before you go and bring cash for any fee.

What to Pair It With

Pililla is the kind of town where a short drive gets you to something else.

What to Bring

  • A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Water and a light snack
  • A light jacket for wind in the evening
  • Comfortable shoes for the slopes
  • A fully charged phone or camera
  • Cash for any fees and for a tricycle, if you use one
